Tips.

Know what it means to be an RA.
RAs are responsible for a diverse set of responsibilies, which can be overwhelming for someone that doesn't have at least a basic understanding of what this job entails. Reach out to a current RA or manager, or read through the job description. If you know more about the job, you'll be able to better determine if this is the right one for you. Reach out to us if you have any questions!
Attend an information session. They can actually be helpful!
The application and interview process can be a bit intensive. During our information sessions, we'll run through a presentation that will help break it down for you. You'll have the opportunity to ask questions and find out what is expected of you through the process. Current RAs and managers will lead these sessions, and it'll be a perfect time to learn more about their experiences, as well as receive interview tips!
 
Don't wait until the last minute to submit your application. 
The application has several components to it and will take some time to complete. You'll want to additionally make sure you provide your references enough time to thoughtfully complete your letter of recommendation. There are three essay questions that are a part of the online application. We will be looking for thoughtful, well-written responses, so we'd highly suggest taking the time to think through and edit your writing.

Utilize the Career Center!
The Career Center will be able to provide feedback and guidance on your cover letter and resume. They can even assist you with preparing for your interviews, or provide tips on what to wear during your interview.

Check your email regularly.
We'll be communicating with you primarily through the email address that you provide on your online application. Make sure to check for important emails from us with links to sign up for your interview time, announcements, or documents. If you ever have any questions, don't hesitate to reach us via email- we're usually pretty quick about getting back to people!
 
Be yourself.
This whole process is dedicated to us getting to know you, and you getting to know us. We want to know who you are, so show us! We're looking for a diverse group of individuals, and there really is no one definition of what a perfect RA is.
